The Rising Scholars Program

The Rising Scholars Program at San José City College is dedicated to creating an educational pathway to success for incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, and justice-involved students. Our program empowers students to earn degrees, credentials, and certificates, providing a safe and supportive environment that fosters personal and academic growth. Participants can thrive through networking opportunities, access to campus resources, and skill-building for high-paying and fulfilling careers.

Rising scholars Program Eligibility Requirements

• I identify as a formerly incarcerated or justice system-impacted individual
• I completed and submitted the Rising Scholars Intake Form
• I will schedule an appointment with a Rising Scholars counselor
• I will enroll in at least a one-credit or non-credit course at San José City College
• I will comply with all Rising Scholars Program requirements
